Renowned for their supercharged concerts since 2015, Clay and Friends have thrilled over 2000 Canadian and European crowds under the #KeEpItMoViN' umbrella. In March 2017, the band released its debut album, Conformopolis, and in 2019 released an English-language EP entitled La Musica Popular De Verdun, streamed over 20 million times. In May 2020, the band was named "Révélation Radio-Canada Chanson 2020-2021" (Best new artist of the year) and with “Grouillades”, they were the winners of the "Pop EP of the Year" category at the Gala Alternatif de la Musique Indépendante du Québec (GAMIQ) (Quebec’s Alternative Music Awards). Their song “Going Up The Coast” is certified a gold single, commemorating the single's 40,000 digital sales in Canada. The hit song has accumulated over 21 million streams to date since its release in October 2018. The band was also nominated for the prestigious Prix Félix-Leclerc 2021 at the Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ), and its song “Bouge ton thang” was also nominated in the "Song of the Year" category and for the SOCAN song award of the same year. On November 12, 2022, Clay and Friends released their third EP entitled AGUÀ with six tracks, one of which is in English. In less than a month, the band played to a full house at Montreal's MTELUS for the EP's launch, and then announced an additional show at MTELUS on May 21, 2022, in addition to selling out their launch at Quebec City's Impérial Bell and their Paris launch at PopUp! du Label on March 14, 2022. “La Musica Popular De Verdun” thrilled many with their LP, “AGUÀ EXTEND'EAU”, released on June 10, 2022 which featured Louis-Jean Cormier, Comment Debord, Mantisse and Marilyne Léonard. Amay Laoni

Amay Laoni (Amélie Larocque being her real name, she was first known under the stage name Amé) is hailed as "one of the most talented singer-songwriters of her generation." In 2016, she won the Félix for Song of the Year - the Quebec equivalent of the Victoires de la Musique for “Ton Départ” (Your Departure), a collaboration with Marc Dupré. In 2018, Amay Laoni unveiled her debut album "Sa couleur" (Her Color). In 2019, her song "Déjà-vu" was selected for a Coca-Cola advertisement. In 2020, her second album "Le tournant" (The Turning Point) was released. The deluxe version came out in 2021, allowing her to perform on TV shows. She collaborates with Marie-Mai for the song “Sous les rivières” (Under the rivers), and the Montreal drag star Rita Baga invites her on her special “En direct de l’Univers” broadcast on Radio-Canada. Meanwhile, her music is resonating in France: she participated in the Astaffort meetings in 2018 with Vianney, then in the Franco-Quebec program La Traversée in 2021, which enabled her to perform at the Francos de Montréal and at the Café de la Danse (Paris). In 2022, she reunited with her French audience at Les Trois Baudets. In 2023, she released the singles "L’Héritière" (The Heiress) and then "Démesurée" (Excessive), accompanied by a manifesto video filmed in Paris. At the same time, she announced her first tour in France, including a performance at the renowned MaMA Festival. Through her captivating and comforting lyrics, Amay Laoni addresses themes of emancipation, female power, and empowerment. Her style is reminiscent of that of "Christine and the Queens", and fans of French electro-pop will be delighted.

Mimosa

This bilingual (French/English) Vancouver quintet draws on Jazz, Brazilian Sambas, French 60ies pop and Cabaret music to concoct its own unique sound: gorgeous melodies, quirky lyrics, incredible groove and sky-high improvisations. With three critically acclaimed CDs and festival appearances all over Canada (including the Vancouver and Montreal Jazz Festivals), they have become CBC favourites, selected first as the subject of a one-hour long documentary and more recently as one of four Western bands featured on television, radio and the web, in the popular “Mai de la chanson d’ici”. They have performed at many festivals, including the Harmony Arts Festival, the Gibsons Jazz Festival, the Pender Harbour Jazz Festival, the Fort Langley Jazz Festival, Festijazz Rimouski, Festival du Voyageur, Winterruption, the Montreal and Vancouver Jazz Festival (many times) and numerous others, not to mention many times at Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver. Mimosa’s music is composed predominantly by pianist Anna Lumiere, with contributions from and collaborations with other band members. Some of their compositions have been used in film and television (Rise of the Gargoyles, Mange ta ville, etc). Lumiere also received an IMA composition award for “Hotel des peines perdues” (Hotel of Lost Sorrows) and some of her songs have been rearranged for choirs (Echos du Pacifique). Currently the band is putting final touches on their 4th album, “Bien ensemble” (Good Together) on the label Cellar Music (Cory Weeds, Vancouver), with a spring 2024 release. Radio-Canada has also done a 20-years retrospective in the form of a short documentary about the band, to be broadcast in the near future. The band is made up of Rebecca Shoichet (vocals), Anna Lumiere (piano and accordion), Karen Graves (sax, flute and vocals), Conrad Good (bass) and Bernie Arai (drums). Although every member of Mimosa is also active on the Canadian music scene in many other groups, the band is celebrating its 25th year anniversary in 2024 and has developed a unique performance that will take you on an unforgettable journey into time and sound.

Gordon Grdina

Gordon Grdina is a JUNO Award winning oud/guitarist whose career has spanned continents, decades and constant genre exploration throughout avant-garde jazz, free form improvisation, contemporary indie rock and Arabic music. His singular approach to the instruments has earned him recognition from the highest ranks of the jazz/improv world. Grdina has performed and collaborated with a wide array of field-leading artists including Gary Peacock, Paul Motion, Marc Ribot, Mark Helias, Mats Gustafsson, Hank Roberts, Mark Feldman, Eyvind Kang, Colin Stetson, Mat Maneri, Christian Lilinger, Matt Mitchell, & Jim Black. In 2019, he took two years out to develop his classical guitar technique before recording a series of classical guitar albums. The new direction allowed the dense harmonies and polytonal complexity to blend and soften creating a blending of sonorities unlike any of his previous work. For moments on pieces such as “Prior Street” and “Pendulum”, the Oud takes on a new roll experimenting in the same atonal world as the guitar before settling back down into the intricate world of Maqam. The word maqam in Arabic means place, location or position. The Arabic maqam is a melody type. It is a technique of improvisation that defines the pitches, patterns, and development of a piece of music and is unique to Arabian art music.

Marley Morales

Marley Morales is passionate about music, and it's always on her mind. The 16-year-old music lover hums and taps her foot whenever she hears a music tone that catches her attention. She loves how certain chords can make a melody so beautiful. These subtleties fascinate her. Marley began singing with her sister and brother, but it was the piano that turned out to be her favorite. After playing the instrument for some time, she finds a guitar in an alley behind her house... as if it were destiny. Since then, she has been playing several instruments, but singing and piano remain her main ones. Her future plans include deepening her musical knowledge, developing her composition skills, and continuing her studies. Her life is guided by music, which brings her a sense of joy and peace.
