About the event

La Maîtrise du Cap is a mixed-voice choir made up of young people aged 9 to 14 accompanied by a group of male singers.

It was founded in 1963 to provide liturgical singing at the Basilica of Notre-Dame du Cap in the city of Trois-Rivières, Quebec.

Since 1983, young singers have received daily musical training at the Jacques-Hétu Music School. Originally a boys' choir, the Maîtrise has been welcoming young girls since 1990. Since its foundation, it has made a name for itself during tours in North America and Europe, in addition to having put their voices on several CD.

Members of the Federation of Pueri Cantores of Canada, they have participated in several national and international congresses including Lyon, Cologne and Washington. They regularly join various musical ensembles in the region, including the Orchester Symphonique de Trois-Rivières and the Orchester du Conservatoire.

During a concert in Paris in August 2000, the Petits Chanteurs received the title of Ambassador of Peace awarded by Abbé Pierre and a representative of UNESCO.

Recognized for the diversity of its repertoire, the Maîtrise du Cap, under the musical direction of Claire Bisaillon, regularly presents concerts where the sacred repertoire rubs shoulders with secular music of different styles and eras.
