BIBI CLUB

(Headliners - 60 minutes)

Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver is proud to present an unforgettable evening of genre-defying music with Bibi Club, Quebec’s rising indie-pop duo.

Winners of the 2024 Quebec Best New Artist Award and now shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Polaris Music Prize for their second album “Feu de garde”, Bibi Club have quickly emerged as one of Canada’s most exciting musical acts. Their sophomore album has been hailed by critics around the globe for its dreamy vocals, layered soundscapes, and danceable rhythms — offering what the band calls “living room party music” with heart and cinematic flair. Their first full-length album “ Le soleil et la mer” (Secret City Records) was released in 2022 and was later longlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize as well.

A duo that is causing a sensation

Formed by Nicolas Basque (of Plants and Animals) and Adèle Trottier-Rivard, daughter of the renowned singer-songwriter Michel Rivard, the Montreal duo captivates listeners with a musical world at the crossroads of indie pop, minimalist proto-punk, and immersive melodic sensitivity. Feu de garde, their second album, stands out as a singular work that transcends linguistic boundaries, offering a kind of “living-room party music” where dreamy vocals, vibrant keyboards, evocative guitars, and dynamic percussion intertwine.

Bibi Club is proud to announce the release of its third album, entitled Amaro, which will be released on February 27. The first single, which is also the title track AMARO, is available today on all digital platforms.

For their third album, Amaro, Bibi Club invites us to brave the dark beasts that lurk around the corners of life and to devote ourselves to the therapeutic power of a zest for life. The album explores the sensitive spectrum between here and there, pointing to love, nature, and community as the only real purpose.

ÉTIENNE FLETCHER

(Opening act - 50 minutes)

Evocative, philosophical, and full of nuance, Étienne Fletcher’s new folk-alternative offering, released in March 2025, is inspired by the story of a now-extinct bird from Hawaii. It’s documented that the last Kauaʻi ʻŌʻō was recorded singing for years, waiting for a response from one of its own—unaware that it was the last of its species.

The fate of this bird serves as a metaphor for the role of the artist in today’s apocalyptic times, as well as the existential challenges faced by linguistic and cultural minorities. Fletcher, himself a member of the French-speaking minority in Saskatchewan, uses Kauai O’o to explore the urgent question of how we live together and seek our shared humanity in an increasingly divided world. The Fransaskois singer-songwriter invites us to get to know our neighbors and to build longer tables instead of taller fences. At the same time, he gently suggests that perhaps we have more to learn from our poets than our politicians.

Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Étienne Fletcher stands out today as one of the most influential artists of his generation on the Franco-Canadian music scene. As proof, in 2022 he was named “Francophone Artist of the Year” at the West Coast Music Awards, and in 2023, he took home four Trille Or Awards, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.

From the very beginning, Fletcher has proudly embraced his bilingual roots and never shied away from the road. He has performed on the stages of an impressive number of festivals, including Les Francos de Montréal, Le Festif!, the Festival en Chansons de Petite-Vallée, Francofaune (Belgium), Pause Guitare (France), Voix de Fête (Switzerland), the Regina Folk Festival, and many more.
