FRANCOPHONE
BOOK CLUB
Do you enjoy reading? If you appreciate Francophone literature and would like to engage in discussions about it, join us for our monthly Francophone Book Club!
Themes, genres, literary movements, and specific books or authors can all be elements that shape these captivating discussions guided by Mélanie Fossourier.
Although recommended, reading the book is not necessary; excerpts will be available at Le Centre.
The activity is suitable for all levels of French and helps to develop public speaking, as well as listening skills. The Francophone Book Club is held one Monday per month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Le Centre culturel.
Free activity hosted by Melanie Fossourier.
Living in Vancouver with her family for ten years, Mélanie has a Master of Modern Litterature and a Language degree from La Sorbonne University. She dedicates her life to novel writing and reading.
Themes:
Monday, February 23:
Lézardes by Hélène Frédérick
Monday, March 16:
To celebrate International Women’s Rights Day on March 8, Réseau-Femmes BC, Mélanie Fossourier and the Centre are joining forces to present a feminist theme highlighting works by influential women authors. King Kong Theory by Virginie Despentes, as well as works by Nelly Arcan, Louise Chennevière and Emma Becker: all these voices question women’s relationship to sexuality and the place assigned to them in society.
This literary café is part of the Entr’Elles program, which offers free initiatives by and for Francophone women from February 28 to March 15, 2026.
