MISSY D
Missy D, a French-English rapper and singer born in Rwanda, blends her Ivorian and Zimbabwean roots into a style she calls Rap & Soul — a fusion of hip-hop, R&B, soul, jazz, and rock. Inspired by Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill, and MC Solaar, she began writing at the age of 11 and has since made her mark on the Canadian music scene.
Based in Vancouver, she shines both as a solo artist and as part of the Laydy Jams collective. With her live band, she sets stages on fire — from major festivals like SXSW and Rifflandia to school theaters across the country. She has shared the stage with big names like K’naan, Anderson Paak, and Shaggy.
Winner of the 2024 Francophone Artist of the Year award at the Western Canadian Music Awards, she is also nominated for two Trille Or awards in 2025. Her new EP La Poursuite (85% in French) explores themes of dreaming, perseverance, and solidarity, and is taking her on tour across Canada.
Get ready to feel the beat with Missy D — where flow, emotion, and francophone fire come alive!
