Festival ete francophone vancouver

Every June since 1990, Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver organizes the Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver (Vancouver Francophone Summer Festival), one of the most important cultural and musical francophone events in Western Canada.

Discover more than a week of concerts under the banner of international francophone music. In a lively atmosphere, thousands of people come together to hear artists from across Canada and around the world. Our audience is not limited to the Francophone and Francophile community, but includes the population of Vancouver at large as well as tourists who are interested in taking in a cultural experience that is unique on the West Coast!

The Festival is:

  • One of the most important francophone rendez-vous  west of Ottawa
  • A way to abolish language barriers and promote multiculturalism

Since its first year, Le Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver has presented many international artists such as Daniel Bélanger, Patrice Michaud, Pierre Lapointe, Coeur de Pirate, Linda Lemay, Zachary Richard, Les Cowboys Fringants, La Compagnie Créole, Ariane Moffatt, Paul Piché...

JOYCE N'SANA (QC)

Joyce N’sana is the voice of Afrobluehop. Radio-Canada’s Discovery of the Year for 2021-2022 made her name with Reggae, but this diminutive woman with a big voice now makes music in a delicious blend of Afro-blues and Hip-hop. Growing up in war-torn Congo, she has one clear and determined message: the art of peace. She has drawn attention for her “incredible intensity” (Éric Barette, Radio-Canada) and for her “survivor’s fervour” (Stéphane Laporte, La Voix) and her new EP "Obosso" has been praised as “high calibre” (Jean-François Côté, Radio-Canada). She takes her audience on an emotional roller coaster, both with the stirring rhythms of her music and her voice that straddles sweetness and raucous ascents.

It is no accident that Joyce N’sana has won many awards over recent years. This Congolese-Quebecer released her first EP in March 2016 and stayed at #1 in Canada for the whole summer in the Earshot ratings for the World Music category. The same year, her EP was named "World Music Album of the Year" by CJLO radio. In 2017, she made an appearance on the show La Voix, in 2018 she won in the Montreal finals of the Landmark Events Showcase, and in 2019 she was a finalist in Vitrines XP. As she has recently been named Radio-Canada’s Discovery of the Year for 2021-2022, she will present her new EP "Obosso", available on all the major platforms.

JACKY ESSOMBE (BC)
&
YORO NOUKOUSSI
KOCASSALÉ DIOUBATÉ

Originally from Cameroon, Jacky Essombe grew up in Yaoundé and Paris and now lives in Vancouver. She has toured in Canada, the United States and Europe with major recording artists and has appeared on television and radio in Canada, Europe and Africa. A true cultural liaison and an enthusiastic ambassador for the African culture, Jacky's passion for her culture inspired her to become a best-selling author, professional dancer, dance teacher, storyteller, trainer and speaker and a TV and radio show host. She uses dance as a medium to express life to its fullest and also as a journey to a higher level of consciousness. She loves to share the traditions, history and culture of Africa, and the wisdom of her ancestors, and she truly believes that the Western world can benefit from the ancient wisdom of indigenous people. Jacky will be joined by the multi-instrumentalists and talented, Yoro Noukoussi & Kocassalé Dioubaté to give you an unforgettable performance for the 33rd Festival d'été francophone de Vancouver.
