FESTIVAL D'ÉTÉ FRANCOPHONE DE VANCOUVER

Festival ete francophone vancouver

Every June since 1990, Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver organizes the Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver (Vancouver Francophone Summer Festival), one of the most important cultural and musical francophone events in Western Canada.

Discover more than a week of concerts under the banner of international francophone music. In a lively atmosphere, thousands of people come together to hear artists from across Canada and around the world. Our audience is not limited to the Francophone and Francophile community, but includes the population of Vancouver at large as well as tourists who are interested in taking in a cultural experience that is unique on the West Coast!

The Festival is:

  • One of the most important francophone rendez-vous  west of Ottawa
  • A way to abolish language barriers and promote multiculturalism

Since its first year, Le Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver has presented many international artists such as Daniel Bélanger, Patrice Michaud, Pierre Lapointe, Coeur de Pirate, Linda Lemay, Zachary Richard, Les Cowboys Fringants, La Compagnie Créole, Ariane Moffatt, Paul Piché...

CHILDREN'S FEST WITH KALIMBA

Whether she is dancing, singing or writing her plays, Kalimba vibrates to the rhythm of her emotions. Energized, colourful, curious and passionate, she enthusiastically makes an effort to transmit to children of all ages the courage to accomplish their dreams. She has visited hundreds of cities across the country to meet thousands of young francophones with whom she has shared her boundless passion for music. Her show, Au cœur du rythme, has been presented more than 700 times and has enabled her to launch a recording and a video adopted by families all over francophone Canada. Personified by Carolyne Mailhot, a singer, percussionist and actress from Quebec, who has performed on stage in Canada, the United States, and the Middle East, and who is also the former artistic director of the Théâtre La Marjolaine, the unforgettable director of the Club des 100 watts Marc-André Coallier, and workshop leader for singing, stage direction and production at the Collège Lionel-Groulx (Montréal) and Cégep Saint-Laurent (Montréal), Kalimba will be coming to Vancouver with Ça déménage !, a new show that is funny, dynamic and touching, where she has to face a new challenge: changing schools (insert here the melodramatic strains of violin). Warning to parents: may cause an uncontrollable desire to move and loud outbursts of laughter!
