COUP DE COEUR FRANCOPHONE DE VANCOUVER

Originating in Montreal, this event is an annual testimony to our connection to Francophone culture. Today, a number of presenters in Canada use the Coup de coeur label to refer to a series of concerts that are organized independently but are united around a common desire to celebrate the arts through francophone music and song.

Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver looks forward to seeing you for the 26th edition of Coup de coeur francophone de Vancouver in November 2020.

Since its beginning, many artists have come to perform at this annual event: Pierre Guitard, Klô Pelgag, Michel Rivard, QW4RTZ, Daniel Lavoie, Myriam Parent, Martha Wainwright, Radio-Radio, Fred Pellerin, Les Sœurs Boulay, Les Hays Babies, Anaïs and many more.

LOUIS-JEAN CORMIER (QC)

2020 ADISQ - FELIX (Quebec's Association of Music Industry and Recording)

ALBUM OF THE YEAR - CONTEMPORARY | SONGWRITER OR COMPOSER OF THE YEAR

After five years of silence, Louis-Jean Cormier is back behind the mic to bring us his third album “Quand la nuit tombe” (“When Evening Falls”) which won "Album of the year - contemporary" and " Songwriter or Composer of the year" at the 2020 ADISQ Gala. A come-back with all the fanfare! We are thrilled to be able to welcome him to the Coup de cœur francophone de Vancouver! Louis-Jean is no stranger to awards and accolades. Starting in 1998, his band Karkwa released four albums in less than a decade, won Félix awards for “Best Band” and “Best Album”, as well as being the only francophone group to date to be awarded the prestigious Polaris prize for “Best Album released in Canada”.

The accumulation of awards continued in 2012, when his first solo album “Treizième étage” (“Thirteenth Floor”) won the Félix awards for “Singer-Songwriter-Composer of the Year”, “Best Rock Album” and “Critics’ Choice” as well as the Juno award for “Francophone Album of the Year” in 2013. His second opus, “Les grandes artères” (“Main Roads”) was nominated for the 2016 Juno awards in the category “Francophone Album of the Year”. A man of versatile talents, Louis-Jean Cormier has produced a number of albums for artists including Lisa Leblanc, David Marin and Philippe Brach. In 2013, he appeared as a coach for a season on the show “La Voix”, where he shared his know-how and experience with up-and-coming artists.
