This year-round concert series is mainly dedicated to emerging artists, often from BC but sometimes from other provinces or French-speaking countries. It provides a stage to experiment on and a place to gain experience as performers while also allowing Greater Vancouver audiences to discover professional quality French-language concerts on a more regular basis.

The Nouvelle Scène series is also open to artists who are more advanced in their careers, who want to present a new piece of work. The Nouvelle Scène series has become a pillar for album release for many francophone British Columbian singers/songwriters, who want to present their new work in a more intimate setting, before hitting the stage at more major events such as the Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver or the Coup de coeur francophone de Vancouver, here in Vancouver, or elsewhere in Canada.

Enjoy a folk music concert from home with Veronique Trudel and Mat Bergeron! They will present their very first solo albums.

To comply with the B.C. government’s health and safety regulations, the show will be only live-streamed, so that everyone in the francophone community can enjoy it. The show will be video-recorded and broadcast live on the online ticket website "". Once you have purchased tickets on the website, you will receive a streaming link by email. This link is unique and cannot be shared.

Veronique Trudel is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. Her work is eclectic and creative, mainly in the intimist style of folk music, but without being confined to a particular style. Her musical interests, especially singing and composition, go back to her childhood. In 2006, when she spent 10 months living in Iqaluit in Nunavut, she developed an interest in performance. Accompanying herself on piano, her guitar, or her ukulele, she performs her compositions with sweet refreshing originality and contagious sensitivity. Her creations are imbued with spirituality, a feeling for daily life as a mother, and love. She released her first mini-album "Après l’hiver" (After Winter) in May 2020, presenting six different worlds that deal with themes such as courage, hypersensitivity, and the quest for meaning. Don’t miss the release of her single “Appelle-moi” (“Call Me”) on April 2, available at "Appelle-moi" tells the story of someone who is imprisoned in her home and in her head. Trapped in her solitude, she tries to maintain her delicate balance. Part of her consciousness observes what is going on around her; it’s her way of staying in touch with reality. But another part of her mind is scrolling a sequence of fantastic images. In this escape, she is looking for beauty through the darkness. She also participated in the 2020 edition of Pacifique en Chanson. Follow Veronique on her Facebook page

Aaron Klingbeil, musician

Aaron Klingbeil, a professional multi-musical technologist from Nelson, BC, creates and teaches composition, and audio production under his three entangled monikers; Spacefood, Handsome Hansel, and Shapeshifting Masters of Darkness. Klingbeil’s music displays a playful dance of timbre and feeling, realized through expert combinations of unusual sounds and rhythms. Klingbeil’s music represents a child-like curiosity of audible influence traversing electronic genres and energies from chill-hop to liquid bass and psytrance.

Mathew Pellerin Bergeron, aka Mat Bergeron, is a singer-songwriter-composer from Squamish, in British Columbia. It is now nearly two decades since Mat Bergeron starting composing songs and shifted from one style of music to another: from hip hop to rock, with an interlude of blues, to finally end up as a folk artist. He has a prolific catalogue that just keeps growing. He took part in a number of projects with CBC Radio Canada, including a televised show in 2018 called “Performance Éclair” (meaning “Flash Performance”) where he met the challenge of writing and recording a song in less than 24 hours. Recently, Mat decided to start recording a solo album in his home studio. He is also learning to play the piano, which is taking him in a new direction musically. He also participated in the 2020 edition of the Pacifique en Chanson. He sees music as a kind of therapy, an escape route from everyday life. The concert on March 27 will be Mat's big return on stage. Follow Mat on his Facebook page
