FESTIVAL D'ÉTÉ | LEFLOFRANCO & DJ CHEVDOT | LAURENCE NERBONNE

Location Studio 161551, 7e Avenue ouestVancouver, V6J 1S1

For the evening Gala, hip-hop and rap will own the stage with singers LeFloFranco and Laurence Nerbonne! LeFloFranco will share the stage with DJ Chevdot, a member of the Omushkegowuk Cree First Nation community. We will dance on blended style rhythms, at the crossroads of rap, electro, trap, soca, reggae fusion, and kompa. Then, Laurence Nerbonne will take the mic to sing vibrant odes that hit the mark on the themes of valorization and empowerment, never missing an opportunity to flash the bright candy colours of pop culture.

LEFLOFRANCO & DJ CHEVDOT (ON)

A plural identity. A multicoloured music. This is what defines LeFLOFRANCO, alias FLO, a franco-Ontarian artist of Haitian origin from the urban scene of Ottawa for more than a decade. On blended style rhythms, at the crossroads of rap, electro, trap, soca, reggae fusion and kompa, the 2015 nominee at the Gala Trille Or in the category Discovery of the Year deploys his first album, Force inhérente, released in 2019, a sensitive verve, capable of celebrations and of demonstrations, the defender of a tomorrow that respects cultural diversity, justice and equality for all. Strong words that he strives to transpose into reality, spoken to youth, with event concerts such as #HautesVibrations, awards for Artistic Initiative of the Year at the 2019 Gala Trille Or. At the 32th Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver, Le FLO will share the stage with DJ Chevdot. A member of the community of the Cree Omushkegowuk First Nation, the ex-artistic director, choreographer and hip-hop dancer with Culture Shock Canada has to his credit a number of hits, in particular with Queenyy, that make him one of the most high-profile stage producers and DJs in Ottawa. His first solo recording is announced for 2021.

LAURENCE NERBONNE (QC)

“Rebellious because you’ve got to be”, as journalist Émilie Côté dubbed her in Montreal’s newspaper La Presse last March. One of the first francophone Canadian singer-songwriter composers to have gone along with mainstream urban music, Laurence Nerbonne is a lot more than a pop singer. A hard worker who has become a producer with her acclaimed FEU — nominated for Pop Album of the Year at the 2020 Quebec Music Industry Awards — as well as one of the rare female directors in the country with her recent OMG, released last spring, she is a hard headed liberated woman, a “girlboss” who will not be stopped by anything or anyone. Chosen as “Radio-Canada Discovery” in the vocalist category and winner of the 2016 SOCAN prize for her song “Rêves d’été”, winner of the 2017 JUNO award for Francophone album of the year for XO — her first, launched the same year and also nominated for Pop Album of the Year at the 2016 Quebec Music Industry Awards, this engaged artist signed on her third LP in an exclamation of memorable and vibrant odes that hit the mark on the themes of valorization and empowerment, never missing an opportunity to flash the bright candy colours of pop culture, which she embraces with the energy, audacity and charisma of a leader.
