For the kids, the Vancouver Festival d'été francophone will kick off at 2 pm on 7th Avenue, with free performances by clowns and magicians. Two shows for the under twelve year-old crowd are scheduled at Studio 16.

Nova, Isa et Chou. It's a family story! Together, they wrote "Chansons de Grenouilles - Frog Songs", a show of original and traditional French Canadian and French children's songs. (under 6 years old)

THE WINNERS OF THE PACIFIQUE EN CHANSON COMPETITION

The 17th season of the Pacifique en chanson competition takes place on Friday, May 9 in Vancouver at Waterfront Theatre. As much a performance as a competition, Pacifique en chanson is a unique launching pad for Francophone artists of British Columbia and the Yukon to take their first step into the world of pop music. Pacifique en chanson is a training ground for these up and coming artists and gives these young talents the opportunity to gain an unforgettable experience. And you will have the opportunity to see the winners of the competition in performance on the outdoor stage at the Festival d'été!

BRUNO PELLETIER AND LE GROSZORCHESTRE

  For over 20 years, Bruno Pelletier has been making waves on the concert scene around the world. It's no surprise. He's a singer and an accomplished musician, a huge star in Quebec, the winner of 15 Felix awards in the course of his career, and his enchanting mellow voice still goes straight to our hearts and souls. He will perform the songs from his latest album "Bruno Pelletier et le Groszorchestre", a collection of big hits in French and in English with jazz accents as well as some of his own past hits. This show promises to be an intimate and unpretentious performance that is fun and emotionally rich.



LES COWBOYS FRINGANTS

Les Cowboys fringants (Jérôme Dupras, Marie-Annick Lépine, Jean-François Pauzé, Karl Tremblay) is a band with a real cult following in Quebec, and their appearance in Vancouver promises to be another wild and woolly show! Let yourself be carried away by their songs that can be funny, provocative or nostalgic, in a subtle alchemy of rock music and traditional Quebecois folk. After selling over 500,000 albums (Break Syndical, Attache ta Tuque and la Grande Messe) and two sell-out concerts at the Bell Centre in Montreal, they will treat Vancouver audiences to a one-time concert that deserves a very warm welcome.

In closing this week of celebration, the Francodome will become the showcase for francophone culture in British Columbia. Some twenty local artists will come together on stage for a unique concert of instrumental music and song. We will take a musical tour of jazz, rock, pop, and traditional music...

An evening to discover or reconnect with the talents in our midst.

  A patriotic atmosphere will settle over the Centre on June 24 as we celebrate Saint Jean-Baptiste day, Quebec's provincial holiday. With emotions running high, the show will start with renditions of the greatest hits by Quebec artists followed by DJ Eric Lenger's turntables to keep the rest of the night young. Come out to dance and enjoy the culinary specialities of "la Belle Province". You won't want to miss out on this fun and happy occasion.
