For its 20th anniversary the francophone cultural center of Vancouver is happy to present you its programming for the 2009 festivities. In this occasion we have chosen a panel of inevitable francophone artists.
You can purchase your tickets online for the Gala evening on June 20th on Paypal bellow.You will get your tickets at the entrance of the festival.
The pre-sale of tickets for the show on Saturday June 20th ends today at 5pm. It will not be possible to purchase tickets on-line and by phone after that this deadline. Tickets sale will resume tomorrow at the entrance of the site (Granville and West 7th) at 1:00 pm.
The show will go on rain or shine.

ARIANE MAHRŸKE LEMIRE

After performing at the semi-finals of the Festival de la Chanson de Grandby in Québec, Ariane Mahrÿke Lemire has a recipient of the Rawlco-Magic 99 grant program. She recorded her first full-length album with acclaimed bassist and producer Mike Lent and the same year "Double Entendre" won a 2008 Western Canadian Music Award. Come and discover this inescapable artist.

MIMOSA

Launched in Vancouver, B.C., the band Mimosa lives up to its name, playing an eclectic range of music that is as vibrant as the brilliant yellow mimosa flower.
They will release a much anticipated album this summer, Méli-Mélo. Their musical inspirations take you through many extraordinary soundscapes and you just might want to get up and dance!

The Vancouver Francophone Summer Festival opens its doors on West
7th Avenue, for children starting at 1pm. There will be free outdoor activities
with clowns, magicians, make up artist as well as a show in Studio
16 for children under 12..
This year your children can take advantage of workshops of creation to develop their manual capacities in French. Enjoyment and cheerfulness guaranteed! |
THE LITTLE MATCH SELLER

This show will be a musical tale according to Hans Christian Andersen’s
work, the product of 7 BC Francophone artists, Ingrid Rondel, Michelle
Richard, Samuel Sixto, Coraline Félix, Sophie Aubugeau, Anne Duranceau
and Edgar Bridwell.
In the snowy streets of St.-Petersburg, a girl sells matches to the passers-by.
Accompanied with a Russian doll, a centipede and a ladybird, she mets a
witch who off ers her three magic matches...

MALAJUBE | 5 pm
Malajube’s first album, Le Compte Complet, released in 2004, introduced their unique and original sound. Their second album in 2006 was a hit. This Montreal pop/rock group, comprised of artists Julien Mineau, Thomas Augustin, Francis Mineau and Mathieu Cournoyer, has been performing non-stop, participating in numerous musical events and festivals in Canada as well as abroad. Their last album (Labyrinthe) is also a big success. This concert will be a unique opportunity to discover why this francophone group with multiple award nominations has so many people talking and everyone rocking

Pierre Lapointe is a young artist from Quebec with an unusual career path. From the start, he has been garnering awards and has been lavished with critical praise. Pierre Lapointe is a consummate performer. Each of his shows is unique, as he gently rocks his audiences, taking them on voyages through his musical world. With the release of his new album “Sentiments humains”, Pierre Lapointe is heading back on tour and, to our great delight, will be stopping here in Vancouver.

THE SAINT JEAN-BAPTISTE HOLIDAY

On June 24th, come and discover Saint Jean-Baptiste day, a real Quebecois celebration! In a convivial atmosphere, the music band Doctoroq will share its Quebecois covers and classics of the French-speaking music followed by a DJ to keep the rest of the night young.
