Karine Guyon- September 6th- October 15th

The work of Karine Guyon is inspired as much by an irrevocable past as ideologies yet to come. Her work blends innovation and experimentation and invites the process of decomposition to orchestrate the encounter between the medium and colours. By observing the decline of the medium, this silent sigh where forms and consistencies begin to lose their definition, the artist seeks to free herself from the constraints imposed by the structure of the canvas. So it is a liberating work, one that also seeks to mitigate the effects of industrialisation, technology and silence on our subconscious minds. The artist aims to surpass the limits set in the individual and collective spirit... Not a small undertaking !

The opening for this show will take place on Monday, September 6th from 7 pm to 9 pm in the lobby of Le Centre. Wine and cheese will be served.

Nouvelle Scene Concerts

Aude ray, September 24th

With her mellifluous voice and accents of Soul, Aude Ray has been composing Indie/Jazz/Folk songs since she was 17 years old. She was born on an autumn evening in 1983 in Quebec, where the Richelieu River flows into the St. Lawrence. She grew up expressing her dreams through music, dance and the visual and dramatic arts. From a very young age, she was innately at ease on stage. At the age of 19, in collaboration with her band, she independently organised her first concert/album as singer-songwriter-composer and she also created the design and the stage sets. “Bing Bang”, professionally recorded in front of a live audience at the P'tit Medley in Montreal in 2002, was distributed in 400 copies. After her studies in stage acting at the Conservatoire Lassalle in Montreal, she longed for freedom and found it in the heart of the Canadian Rockies in Banff, Alberta. Over the next two years, her horizons expanded, as she met musicians and artists from all over the world who inspired her to spend a year travelling in Europe, in particular Sweden, England, Scotland and Ireland, where she continued creating music and sharing it wherever she went. For the past three years, she has been living between the sea and the mountains in British Columbia, moving between Powell River, Vancouver and Whistler, to finally settle down in Victoria, on Vancouver Island. The music she creates is inspired by all of her emotions as well as the magic of this harmonious landscape, reflected in her unique poetic melodies full of sweetness and integrity.
