ARIANE BLAIS

Ariane Blais hails from Trois-Rivières in Quebec, where she grew up surrounded by pots of paint and brushes. In Vancouver, Ariane has been able to make her dream a reality: she now devotes herself to her art full time. She will be showing her first exhibition in British Columbia.

The opening for this show will take place on March 3rd from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the lobby of Le Centre.  Wine and cheese will be served.

A life without wisdom will be difficult to live well. It therefore seems essential to ask ourselves : what are the sources of wisdom, and can we cultivate them ?

Once a month, for four months, Le Centre invites children 4 years and older to come and explore the imaginary world of fairytales. Led by a storyteller, the children are encouraged to give their imaginations free rein through the great collection of illustrated books at the Centre’s library. This activity is hosted by Naomi Steinberg of the Vancouver Society of Story Telling.

WINTERMITTS

From its beginnings in Vancouver in 2005, Wintermitts has produced two albums and has moved to the forefront of the Canadian independent music scene. After two touring shows, where they were spotted alongside Julie Doiron, You say Party ! We say Die ! or Laura Barrett, this proudly independent pop-rock band has found loyal fans from Vancouver to Montreal. Wintermitts is composed of six multi-instrumentalists who collaborate enthusiastically and comfortably together. They are not afraid to break with conventions, bringing in trumpet, flute, accordion and even glockenspiel.They will perform at home in the intimacy of Studio 16, for what promises to be an epic show.
