DOBACARACOL
Saturday June 16 | 7 p.m. | 1551 West 7th Avenue in Vancouver
Dobacaracol had its beginnings in 1998, when Doriane Fabreg (Doba) met Carole Facal (Caracol). It was an adventure from the start, as they brought their voices and percussion instruments together to make a refreshing new sound, bridging cultures, blending styles and rhythms, creating songs from many different sources. With their African and funk influences, these compositions are an eclectic mix of lyrics in French, English or even African dialects. Dobacaracol's album Soley, warmly received by the public and the media alike, is a Gold award winning album in Canada. Bursting with energy and just back from a European tour, Dobacaracol and their musicians will transport you into a unique world of sound and will enchant you with their fiery and imaginative performance.

PLUME LATRAVERSE
Saturday June 16 | 9 p.m. | 1551 West 7th Avenue in Vancouver
Singer-songwriter-composer Plume Latraverse was born in Montreal in 1946 and has become a legend of rock music. He began his career in the 60s and gradually the songs he wrote began to show the influence of folk music. With the release of his very first albums, in the mid-seventies, a good many of his songs became stand-by hits in most of the restaurants, bars and festivals throughout Quebec and beyond. His imagination took him down many paths and earned him a reputation under different guises - rocker, chansonnier, blues artist and whimsical performer. Plume is above all a poet, for whom music is a privileged mode of artistic expression, but not the only one. This unsettling character cannot easily be summed up in any description, as his nature is full of excesses and contradictions. Nevertheless, his words resonate with deep wisdom and he has the talent to draw us into the crazy eddy of his imagination.
